Most of Your Favorite British Shows Aren’t Leaving Netflix After All

Good news for Anglophiles: More than a dozen British shows have been saved from streaming oblivion, as Netflix has renewed its contract with the BBC. Dr. Who, Luther, and Top Gear were among the lucky shows to earn renewal, and in the end, only four shows will expire from Netflix at the end of the month: Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, MI-5, and Red Dwarf. All credit to the new deal must go to the plucky British prime minister, who, at a conference in London shortly before Christmas, stood up to the American president with a brave speech extolling the virtues of Shakespeare, Churchill, the Beatles, Sean Connery, Harry Potter, and David Beckham’s right foot.
