NBC Is Making at Least Two Very Large Dolly Parton Movies

GLASTONBURY, ENGLAND - JUNE 29: Dolly Parton performs on the main Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival on June 29, 2014 in Glastonbury, England. Gates opened on Wednesday at the Somerset dairy farm that plays host to one of the largest music festivals in the world. Tickets to the event, which is now in its 44th year, sold out in minutes even before any of the headline acts had been confirmed. The festival, which started in 1970 when several hundred hippies paid ?1, now attracts more than 175,000 people (Photo by Matt Cardy/Getty Images)

This morning, Dolly Parton tumbled out of bed, stumbled to the kitchen, poured herself a cup of ambition, and then signed a development deal with NBC for a series of movies based on her “stories, songs, and inspiring life,” the network announced today. The specifics of the projects are up in the air at the moment, but NBC says the movies will be aimed at a family audience, which ruins our idea for a “Jolene” erotic thriller called Just Because You CanParton’s hours in her new job are unclear.
