The fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie lives, and it began production today in Australia. Titled Dead Men Tell No Tales, the movie has Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally, and Stephen Graham reprising their roles; Javier Bardem, who plays this installment’s villain, and younger scalawags Golshifteh Farahani, Kaya Scodelario, and Brenton Thwaites are also onboard.

It’s taken quite a long time for this film to get going. As the number implies, yes, it’s really the fifth of its kind. If you’re wondering what else could possibly happen in this universe, it’ll be something like this, according to Slash Film:

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

Drama! As of now, Pirates 5, directed by Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning, is still slated for a July 7, 2017, release.
