There was a lot of Empire featured on American Idol Thursday night. First, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) came to reveal some Idol votes and tease her show’s two-hour season finale, which airs next Wednesday (karma apparently gets someone). Then, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray, a.k.a. Yazz the Greatest) and Jamal (Jussie Smollett) hit the stage with “No Apologies,” one of their songs from the Empire season-one soundtrack. It felt like this was an (unofficial) audition to take the show on tour. Wouldn’t that be unexpected!
