It turns out the Groundhog Day musical is actually happening and will hit Broadway in spring 2017, according to Variety. (Maybe you’d like to experience it again and again.) A portion of the key team behind Matilda, including director Matthew Warchus, composer-lyricist Tim Minchin, and choreographer Peter Darling, will join Danny Rubin (who co-wrote the film’s screenplay) to prep the production. Previews begin on January 23, 2017, ahead of the March 9, 2017, premiere. Casting and venue options for the Bill Murray classic comedy turned musical are still in the works, but hey, no pressure. Not like this has to be perfect.
