Miguel Is Finally Being Sued for Kicking That Woman at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards

If there’s one thing worth remembering from the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, it’s the moment when Miguel decided to awkwardly jump between two parts of the stage mid-performance and crash-landed on the heads of a couple female audience members. It was the leg drop heard ‘round the world that inspired a thousand memes and lots of damage control on Miguel’s part. But if you thought all the repercussions from the incident were in the past, it’s come back to haunt Miguel. TMZ reports that Cindy Tsai, one of the two women injured in the kick, is finally taking legal action and has filed a lawsuit against both Miguel and the MGM Grand (where the awards were held) for negligence. She alleges that she “took the brunt” of the kick and is now asking for damages to cover medical bills and lost wages, as well as pain and suffering. Another woman injured in the crash was previously said to have suffered brain damage but reportedly never took legal action.
