Venice Biennale, Daily Doodles: Joana Avillez’s Sketchbook

Remember when the entire art world was paddling around Venice? The opening was last week, and now that everybody is home, it’s time to look back. Joana Avillez was there with her sketchbook.

Avillez, perhaps best known for illustrating Lena Dunham’s first book, Not That Kind of Girl, brings a unique sense of whimsy to the exhibition. Below, she finds a tombstone for 14 dogs, sketches Joan Jonas, and documents the women of the Venice Biennale, all while seeing as much art as humanly possible. (Click to enlarge.)
