Alia Shawkat to Star in a Comedy Series Co-Created by Michael Showalter

Arrested Development’s Alia Shawkat is set to star in her own comedy series. According to THR, Shawkat will star in a pilot presentation for Jax Media called Search Party, which follows “a group of four self-absorbed 20-somethings that come together when a former college acquaintance mysteriously disappears.” Michael Showalter co-created the series with Mozart in the Jungle/Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp writers Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers, and the series is set to include a ton of funny people including John Early, John Reynolds, and Meredith Hagner, who starred in David Cross’s film Hits earlier this year. Production on the series begins this summer in New York, and while it’s unknown yet where it will premiere, Jax Media is also behind Broad City and Inside Amy Schumer, so we know one network that would make a great fit.
