Please Don’t Go Onstage to Rap With Kendrick Lamar If You Don’t Know the Lyrics

Because he is such a nice and fun guy, Kendrick Lamar has developed a habit of inviting fans onstage to help him perform some of his older songs. Here he is Saturday night bringing two fans up for “m.A.A.d. city,” at the Sweetlife Festival. The first person he wrangles is reportedly Jonathan Neman, CEO and co-founder of Sweetgreen, the company that does the fest, as well as the rapper’s “Beets Don’t Kale My Vibe” celeb-themed salad. It doesn’t go well initially because Neman doesn’t know the words — interesting because Lamar specifically says not to come up unless you know all the words. (In Neman’s defense, I guess this could’ve been a joke to show people Kendrick was serious, but either way: Listen to Kendrick, you turkeys!) To say that the second fan crushes it, however, is an understatement. She deserves an award.
