Bon Iver Debuted 2 New Bon Iver–y Songs at Justin Vernon’s New Festival

Earlier this month, Justin Vernon sparked panic in Bon Iver worshipers everywhere with his comments to Grantland about the band’s possibly nonexistent future. “As far as putting a record together, I don’t really know what’s happening,” he tried to explain. “Our show is our main focus … We don’t have any plans.” The show he was referring to was the band’s first performance in three years, which took place over the weekend at Vernon’s inaugural Eaux Claires Music Festival. But if you’ve missed Vernon’s sad-boy feels, fear not! The band debuted two never-before-heard, untitled songs that’ll trigger all the waterworks you’ve been denied since 2011’s Bon Iver. And it sounds like they’ve been futzing around with some synth effects during their hiatus. Free advice: If this doesn’t satisfy your Bon Iver craving, try out his protégé the Staves’ new Vernon-produced album If I Was instead. You won’t regret it.
