Deadline reports that the CW wants to bring the infamous serial killer Jason Voorhees back from the dead for a Friday the 13th TV show. Mark Pedowitz, the network's president, announced the news at a Tuesday TCA session, noting that the story line would be based somewhat on those within the long-running film franchise. Deadline has reason to believe the show will follow "the masked Jason with a stronger feel of grounded reality," as well as "a detective’s search for his missing brother." The project is still very much in development, though; Pretender creators Steve Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle are writing the script. Other logistics and personnel info were not immediately available.
