Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein’s IFC show Portlandia will wrap up after its eighth season. Armisen and Brownstein confirmed the news in a recent interview with The Oregonian, which comes seven months after IFC renewed the show for seasons 6 and 7:
Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein talked about when Portlandia will end. IFC renewed the show for two more seasons earlier this year, and work on Season 6 is wrapping up. Armisen and Brownstein say Season 8 will be their last, at least as a series on IFC. Armisen says that would be the last in “this iteration,” which leaves the door open for a movie, or something else.
In addition to wrapping up production on season 6, co-creators Armisen, Brownstein, and Jonathan Krisel have a lot of other projects on their plate like FX’s Baskets and Armisen’s other IFC show Documentary Now!, which also scored a double-season renewal last month.
