Jimmy Kimmel was inspired to create a live rendition of his celebrities-reading-mean-tweets segment after a handful of Emmys watchers reacted negatively to one of his Twitter jokes Sunday night. “Twitter has made it easy for famous people to interact with their fans, which is nice, but it also makes it easy for people to tell you how much they hate you,” Kimmel explained, after reading a fresh batch of Kimmel hate. “Every night this week, a group of celebrities will be on the show to read their mean tweets to our studio audience.” Score — for the studio audience. For the viewers at home, the only real difference is this means you’ll get to see new bouts of tongue-in-cheek celebrity shaming four more nights in a row.
