Phil Lord and Chris Miller are known for taking on some strange-sounding TV and movie projects, and their latest addition is no exception. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writing/directing duo have optioned the TV rights to the Serial podcast, and Sarah Koenig and the team at This American Life are attached to the adaptation as producers. The project does not yet have a writer attached and details are slim, but THR says “the plan is to create a cable series based on the experience of making the hugely successful podcast. It will not follow the Adnan Syed case that host Sarah Koenig chronicled week to week.”
In case you needed proof that Lord and Miller are some of the busiest writers/directors around right now, they also have an animated/live-action hybrid comedy starring Jason Sudeikis and Star Wars Han Solo spin-off in the works, not to mention the new season of Will Forte’s Fox show The Last Man on Earth.
