‘Saturday Night Live’ Promotes Kyle Mooney to Repertory Player for Season 41

We already know the season 41 SNL cast and writing staff, and this week the show made one more update to the cast. NBC has confirmed with us that featured player Kyle Mooney has been promoted to repertory status, making it the only promotion this year. Alongside new cast member Jon Rudnitsky, this year’s featured players include Beck Bennett, Sasheer Zamata, Pete Davidson, and Leslie Jones; on SNL’s website, Colin Jost is credited as “Head Writer / Weekend Update Co-Anchor” and Michael Che is credited as “Weekend Update Co-Anchor.”

At this point, SNL has somewhat of a history of trying to keep the Good Neighbor guys apart: the show hired three out of four members in 2013, eventually hired fourth member Nick Rutherford last season, then let him go after season 40.

UPDATE: Beck Bennett and Sasheer Zamata have also been promoted to repertory players.
