Gwyneth Paltrow Wants Women in Hollywood to Make As Much As Robert Downey Jr. Does

Gwyneth Paltrow recently spoke to Variety (via “Page Six”) about the gender wage gap in Hollywood. Following in the footsteps of notable feminist Patricia Arquette’s Golden Globes speech, Paltrow says that the wage gap is “painful”: “Your salary is a way to quantify what you’re worth. If men are being paid a lot more for doing the same thing, it feels shitty.”

While she didn’t go as far as to say that Iron Man franchise co-star Robert Downey Jr. shouldn’t make what he does — Downey earned $80 million in 2015 to Paltrow’s $9 million — she does say, “Look, nobody is worth the money that Robert Downey Jr. is worth. But if I told you the disparity, you would probably be surprised.” Let’s just say that salary makes Downey the only person in Hollywood who can afford to shop on Goop.
