Jon Hamm’s post–Mad Men slate keeps getting more and more diverse: Along with a SpongeBob appearance and a potential turn as a heartbreaking hologram, the recent Emmy winner has signed onto Baby Driver to play a villain. (Bad Hamm alert!) The Edgar Wright crime thriller concerns a getaway-car driver, “a near mute with an ear condition who relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss, he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom,” according to the trades. THR notes Hamm will be among the gang of robbers as a former Wall Street man turned cop-killer — which is fitting because it means he’ll get to flex the opposite muscles he used in The Town. He joins Lily James, Ansel Elgort, and Jamie Foxx, with production scheduled to start later this year, according to Variety, for a March 17, 2017 release.
