Bill Hader to Star in John Malkovich-Produced ‘Empress of Serenity’

SNL alum Bill Hader just landed a new starring film role. According to The Wrap, Hader has signed on to star in Empress of Serenity, an upcoming film co-produced by John Malkovich that will also make the directorial debut of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl writer Jesse Andrews. The film is based on the David Foster Wallace story “A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again” (from his 1998 essay collection of the same name) and will center on a man, played by Hader, “who embarks on a cruise to bond with his father, who helps his son deal with intimacy issues.” Considering this project involves both Bill Hader and John Malkovich, that seems like a good enough excuse to post one of the best Vinny Vedecci SNL sketches of all time:
