Peter Robbins, the former voice of Charlie Brown on Peanuts, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to making criminal threats against a San Diego sheriff. He was charged in September with threatening to hire a hit man to have San Diego County sheriff Bill Gore killed. Robbins had been in jail for violating his probation when he’s believed to have carried out the threat via a letter from jail. (He previously pleaded guilty in 2013 to threatening an ex-girlfriend and her plastic surgeon.) In his plea, Robbins stated that he is mentally ill and has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia. He could face up to four years and eight months in prison. Robbins voiced Charlie Brown on several famous Peanuts TV specials during the 1960s, including “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” and “A Boy Named Charlie Brown.”
