Shane Carruth’s first movie, Primer, was famously shot for only $7,000. His third movie looks like it will be slightly more expensive: Indiewire reports that a long list of boldfaced names have signed on for Carruth’s The Modern Ocean, including Anne Hathaway, Keanu Reeves, Daniel Radcliffe, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jeff Goldblum, Asa Butterfield, new Spider-Man Tom Holland, and Beasts of No Nation’s Abraham Attah. (It’s unclear how many of these actors will pull double-duty as their past selves.) The film itself is reportedly “an epic tale” about shipping routes, hidden treasure, and a “powerful need for vengeance.” So: Cloud Atlas without the race play?
