CBS has picked up a full season of Supergirl for a total of 20 episodes (the show initially received a 13-episode order). Supergirl, starring Melissa Benoist as Superman’s cousin Kara Danvers, had the biggest debut of any freshman show this fall, bringing in almost 13 million same-day viewers following a lead-in from The Big Bang Theory on October 26. The ratings have cooled significantly since then, settling in around 7 million viewers (the last episode brought in 7.19 million viewers). Either way, the show is a win for CBS because it’s bringing in younger viewers for the network and solid reviews, with our TV critic Matt Zoller Seitz calling it a “very sweet, likable series.” It looks like the good can triumph over evil after all.
