Disney Lets Terminally-Ill Star Wars Fan See Unedited Version of Force Awakens Ahead of Release

After hearing of Daniel Fleetwood’s viral Star Wars campaign, Disney, Bad Robot, and Lucasfilm on Thursday granted the terminally-ill fan’s wish to see The Force Awakens early. Daniel’s wife, Ashley, promptly shared the news via Facebook, expressing thanks for the experience and support. “I want to thank ALL the amazing people who helped make this happen,” she wrote. “May the force be with you all.” J. J. Abrams had reportedly called the couple Wednesday to let them know Daniel would see an unedited version of the film in the comfort of his Texas home. The private screening came more than one month ahead of Force’s scheduled release. Read Ashley’s full update below:

Daniel, 32, was diagnosed with spindle-cell sarcoma two years ago. His #ForceForDaniel campaign gained significant traction earlier this week, after Star Wars stars Mark Hamill and John Boyega digitally endorsed the cause via social media. Not long after Daniel had seen the film, Hamill, along with many others, tweeted in appreciation:
