The Daily Show recently tried to send correspondent Jordan Klepper to the Iowa GOP’s first-ever “Growth and Opportunity Party,” but Iowa Republicans specifically denied Daily Show access to the event on the grounds that they “were afraid they were going to make fun of Iowa.” Thankfully, that didn’t stop Trevor Noah and Klepper as the “Senior Iowan Correspondent” from covering the event – and the Iowa GOP’s fear of being mocked – for about a third of last night’s episode. Watch another clip from the segment below, where Klepper points out that there’s not much to make fun of about Iowa anyway: “Iowans are decent, kind, smart people who work hard every day so their children can grow up to have a better life in Indiana.”
