When Quentin Tarantino is not wholly consumed by promoting The Hateful Eight and discussing "abuse of power," he can be found vaguely teasing a Kill Bill threequel. In an interview this weekend with Ben Mankiewicz, for What The Flick?!, the auteur explained Beatrix has been gone because she was overdue for a break from his sadism. But she might now be ready for a comeback.
"There's definitely a possibility — stop short of saying a probability," he said (around the 57-minute mark), noting that Volume 3 would include a time jump. "I put the character Beatrix Kiddo through a lot, and so I wanted her to have this much time for peace. I wanted her to have some time with her daughter and not have to be in the genre machine." Watch the whole interview, which includes Tarantino's thoughts on TV, (more on) police brutality and Kill Bill, and his future plans of novel and playwriting, above.
