At the beginning of (and throughout) every month, Hulu adds new movies and TV shows to its catalogue. Here is a quick list of several that you might be interested in. Some of these may also have previously been on Hulu, only to have been removed and then added back. For more comprehensive coverage of the best titles available on Hulu and elsewhere, check out Vulture’s Streaming Hub, which is updated throughout the month.

Moon river: Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961)

Sure, it has the Audrey Hepburn look that launched a thousand Tumblr tags, but Breakfast at Tiffany’s is more complicated — and flawed — than you remember. Hepburn’s performance is as stunning as ever, but there’s also the film’s labyrinth of gender politics and Mickey Rooney’s dreadful yellowface performance. Its imagery might be excerpted everywhere, but it’s worth wrestling with the rest of Breakfast at Tiffany’s messiness.
Available January 1.

Everybody cut loose: Footloose (1984)

Is there anything more vividly ‘80s than Kevin Bacon furiously prancing around a warehouse? Don’t tell me. I don’t want to know.
Available January 1.

Way back in days of old: Galavant (Season 2 Premiere)

Galavant is ABC’s musical medieval Mel Brooks–like mishmash, and if that sounds like too many ideas to fit into a half-hour show, it is! But much like its stereotypically gallant hero, Galavant manages to barely carry things off, all while winking at its very existence. The music, from Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater, is dependably hummable, while the plots are always silly. Who knows how this got a second season, but thank goodness it did.
Available January 4.

Who’s that girl? New Girl (Season 5 Premiere)

Fox’s easygoing comedy returns with Megan Fox in tow in January. The show has gone up and down in quality over the seasons, but there’s still something to the cast’s chemistry — plus, who doesn’t mind a good 22-minute break from the world once a week? Here’s hoping they play another game of True American.
Available January 6.

I want to believe: The X-Files (Season 10 Premiere)

Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny reunite for a new six-episode arc of the long-running sci-fi series on Fox. If the thought of that doesn’t thrill you like Mulder getting a break in a case, well, you probably have some bingeing to do before the new season premieres.
Available January 25.

Hello, it’s me: Mommy (2014)

Xavier Dolan — whom you know either as cinema’s Québécois enfant terrible or the guy who directed the “Hello” video — literally narrows in on a mother’s tortured relationship with her violent son in this film shot in a square aspect ratio. Mommy is everything you could want from Dolan, which is to say that it’s ragged yet energetic, brutal but perceptive. Afterwards, you’ll be exhausted by his talent, and a little jealous of it, too.
