The Revenant Leads 2016 Oscar Nominations With 12, Followed by Mad Max: Fury Road With 10

Welcome to the last lap of one of the most unpredictable awards races in recent memory. The 2016 Oscar nominees were announced this morning: The Revenant leads the pack with 12, followed by Mad Max: Fury Road with 10. Notable surprises include Carol getting left out of Best Picture, Room’s Lenny Abrahamson appearing on the Best Director list (and Ridley Scott not), and Straight Outta Compton earning a screenplay nod.
