BET’s high-rated Gabrielle Union–led drama Being Mary Jane has been renewed for a fourth season, THR reports. The series, which has ranked No. 1 for black viewers between 18 and 49 for its entire run, went through a bit of behind-the-scenes drama when creator and showrunner Mara Brock Akil exited the show at the end of the third season. Leaving for an overall deal at Warner Bros. Television, it leaves the showrunner position for the fourth season wide open. While a replacement has yet to be announced, BET is forging ahead with production on the new season, which will begin in Atlanta late this year.
