After spending years poking fun of NBC on 30 Rock, and then later having NBC pass on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Tina Fey is returning to network television, this time on CBS — cue a gasp from Kenneth the page. The network has picked up The Kicker, a pilot written by 30 Rock and Kimmy Schimdt’s Jack Burditt (who also created Last Man Standing) and executive-produced by Fey and her 30 Rock and Kimmy Schmidt partner Robert Carlock. The pilot is a multi-camera comedy that follows “an oddball athlete who drives family, friends and strangers crazy after he’s unexpectedly cut from his pro football team.” How dare you betray the peacock, Tina? What happened to that lifelong membership in the Brotherhood of Man?
