From the bowels of American Idol history, season-two runner-up Clay Aiken returns to point out that, yeah, maybe the show has kind of fallen off in its final season. For those old enough to remember, judge Simon Cowell's acerbic takedowns of trembling young adults became the hallmark of what reality-show judges, and British people, "were" in the early 2000s. According to Clay's assessment of this season's premiere, sweetie-pie judges Harry Connick Jr., Keith Urban, and Jennifer Lopez are just not cutting it.

Oh good Lord... those boring ass responses from the judges!? Where is Simon when you need him!? That guy need a hook to pull him off stage.— Clay Aiken (@clayaiken) January 7, 2016
