Stephen Colbert Remembers Glenn Frey With an Adorable Story About His Eighth-Grade Dance

Glenn Frey, who died Monday at the age of 67, wasn’t just the the true leader of the Eagles. As Stephen Colbert recalled on his show Tuesday night, he was also the man who made possible little Stephen’s (not that one) first-ever slow dance, thanks to a well-timed “Desperado” at a middle-school dance. Though Frey co-wrote the song, he wasn’t the Eagle who sang “Desperado” — that was Don Henley — but that doesn’t make this story any less sweet. Welcome to the hotel aww-lifornia.
