Jordan Peele is taking time out of his busy new role as a horror film director to develop a new pilot with Tracy Morgan. Deadline reports that FX has ordered a pilot co-written by Peele and Eastbound & Down’s John Carcieri with Morgan attached to star. The pilot will follow “a career criminal (Morgan) who is released from prison after 15 long years, hoping to reintegrate into a society that long ago left him behind. Now a man whose only expertise is making grilled cheese with an iron must navigate a modern world of political correctness, the Internet, and self-driving cars.” Production on the pilot is slated to begin this summer.
Morgan previously was attached to star in two other FX comedy projects (a pilot called Death Pact and untitled FXX series), but both projects never came to fruition following Morgan’s 2014 New Jersey car crash.
