Candice Bergen might get to star in a new ABC comedy. According to Variety, Bergen has signed on to star in the network’s in-the-works single-cam comedy pilot Pearl, which will follow “a larger-than-life family matriarch named Pearl who, when she finds out she has cancer, becomes intent on controlling and orchestrating every aspect of her family’s life before she dies.” The project is written and executive produced by Friends’ Andrew Reich, and Jim Field Smith (She’s Out of My League, Episodes) will direct.
