Nearly every music genre has its own awards show — we've got the CMAs, the CMTs, Latin Grammys, BET Hip-Hop Awards, Soul Train Awards, Celebration of Gospel, Stellar Awards, etc. — and now EDM is finally getting some prime-time love. On April 23, Fox will air the first-ever Electronic Music Awards (not to be confused with MTV's EMAs), an hour-long show founded by DJ Paul Oakenfold as part of his Electronic Music Awards and Foundation. On Thursday, the EMAFs announced their inaugural list of nominees and categories, which recognize both the best DJs and producers in the dance world, as well as the best international dance clubs, electronic music festivals, and radio shows.
Unsurprisingly, both Diplo and Skrillex are up for DJ of the Year — but none of their joint efforts as Jack Ü, including "Where Are Ü Now" with Justin Bieber, were nominated. A bit of an awkward snub, considering they just won Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album at the Grammys, putting Skrillex ahead of Daft Punk for the dance-music artist with the most Grammy wins (eight). Disclosure and Jamie xx (who both lost to Jack Ü), however, are up for Album of the Year. See a full list of nominees below:
