Yesterday, Fox ordered a brand new, half-hour sketch show from The Lonely Island guys and Paul Scheer called Party Over Here, and while the main three cast members were announced – Nicole Byer, Jessica McKenna, and Alison Rich – today Scheer confirmed the rest of the Party Over Here team with us, including the show’s directors, two featured players, and writing staff, who Scheer revealed will also appear on the show alongside the cast. The writing staff will be led by Nick Wiger, who co-ran season 3 of NTSF:SD:SUV with Scheer and has also written for The Onion News Network, @midnight, and Comedy Bang! Bang!
“When we were developing this show there was only one person that I had in mind to head up the writer’s room and it was Nick Wiger,” Scheer told us. “He’s one of people who always makes me laugh no matter what medium he’s working in. He’s a genius and he knows a lot about fast food and Star Wars – both huge pluses.” As for the four-person staff hired alongside Wiger, Scheer explains: “We wanted to get back to the idea of a smaller room of writers, so the voice would be clearer and totally collaborative. The writers also had familiarity with our performers and could write to their strengths. Which is really rare when developing a show that isn’t a pre-existing group.
