History, formerly known as The History Channel, is getting into the late night game. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has ordered three short-form originals that will debut next Thursday, February 25th starting at 11:30pm. The first series is Great Minds hosted by Dan Harmon, who “invests in a time machine and is subsequently visited by history’s greatest minds. He then discusses their lives and brings them out into the modern world.” A ton of funny people are slated to show up as different historical figures throughout the series: Jack Black, Nick Kroll, Sarah Silverman, Paul F. Tompkins, Robert Smigel, Kristen Schaal, Jason Sudeikis, Dana Carvey, Aubrey Plaza, Scott Adsit, Andy Dick, Ron Funches and Thomas Middleditch.
In addition to Harmon’s series, History also ordered Crossroads of History from Elizabeth Shapiro, which “shines a light on largely unknown moments in history that have shaped the world,” and Paul Scheer, Lou Diamond Phillips, Brian Baumgartner, Angela Kinsey, Wayne Knight, and Jack McBrayer are set to appear. The third series, How to Lose the Presidency, will showcase “real clips of embarrassing moments and mistakes like Howard Dean’s infamous scream to Rick Perry’s time of forgetfulness to even moments from the current presidential campaign.”
