John Oliver Takes on Voter ID Laws in the ‘Last Week Tonight’ Premiere

While some states pose concerns over voter fraud and even “zombie voters” to argue why voter ID laws should be in place, as Oliver points out, no one is more guilty of voter fraud than lawmakers themselves. “These voter ID laws are the biggest overreaction to a manageable problem since Sleeping Beauty’s father ordered all the spinning wheels in the land to be burned,” Oliver says. “This is an agrarian economy – we need those wheels! Why don’t you just watch you daughter for literally one day in her fucking life?”
