To his delight, Lionel Richie got his own tribute performance at the Grammys this year, and what a lineup there was: John Legend! Demi Lovato! Meghan Trainor … Luke Bryan? Tyrese?? Surely, the range of emotions you went through were evident too on Richie’s face as well. (But you know, he had to keep his cool.) And when Richie went up onstage to finish off his own tribute, we fortunately had Dave Grohl fill in as the audience surrogate, red solo cup in hand, just like you.

First, it was just easy like Sunday morning while John Legend started things off with “Easy.”

Demi Lovato came on to sing “Hello.” It was not Adele, but she can sing!

He can see it in your eyes.

Luke Bryan came on stage to sing “Penny Lover.” Bless his heart.

Lionel’s having trouble recognizing Meghan Trainor with her new brunette do. That’s the girl who’s all about that bass, Lionel!

And then it was Tyrese.

Alright, now it’s just uncomfortable.

Dave Grohl is here for you, Lionel — all night long.
