What We Learned From Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo Debut

Happy Yeezy Day! A New Kanye West album is upon us, or at least it will be in T-minus now, when he unveils it live at a Madison Square Garden event billed as both a fashion show for Yeezy Season 3 and an album-listening party. Watch the livestream above, via Tidal, for free, and experience the debut of his recently renamed The Life of Pablo with the rest of the Ye stans watching in theaters worldwide. The show and stream begin at 4 p.m. EST.

And here’s the album art:

Update: Now that the stream has ended, here’s what we know so far. Featured artists on the album appear to include Frank Ocean (“Wolves”), Rihanna (“Famous”), Chance the Rapper, Kelly Price, Kirk Franklin ("Ultra Light Beam”), new G.O.O.D. Music signee Desiigner and Kid Cudi ("Father Stretch My Hands”), the Weeknd ("FML”), Young Thug ("Highlights”), as well as The-Dream and El DeBarge.

“Famous” features a questionable, to say the least, line about Taylor Swift: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that bitch famous.” A rep for Swift tells the New York Times’ Jon Caramanica that, prior to its MSG debut, Kanye asked Taylor to release “Famous” from her Twitter account. She instead “declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message.”

He also takes a dig at his wife’s ex, Ray J: “I bet me and Ray J would be friends, if we didn’t love the same bitch / You might’ve hit it first / Only problem, I’m rich.”

At the end of the show, Kanye announced he is working on a video game called Only One (featuring his song of the same name) about his mother’s trip through the gates of Heaven. See the trailer below. He also announced he will perform “Highlights,” with Young Thug, on SNL this weekend.

A rep for Tidal has confirmed that they “do not have any album information at this time” regarding when The Life of Pablo will be available for download and/or streaming.
