Watch a Truly Weird Deleted Scene From Batman v Superman

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hasn’t even been out a week and we already have an officially released deleted scene. Like so much stuff in the 153-minute theatrical cut, it is oh-so-mysterious, and likely tied to some DC Comics mythology. The clip has been released by Warner Bros. on YouTube with the title “Communion,” and it seems to take place after the movie’s climactic battle. In it, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor is standing in a puddle of goop and facing a giant, howling gray monster. The horned oddball also has some strange-looking cubes near him, which could be otherworldly devices associated with the Darkseid mythos called Mother Boxes. (For more on them and the other mysteries and/or teases in the movie, read our little explainer.) The creature looks a lot like DC character Yuga Khan, father of mega-supervillain Darkseid. Given that Darkseid is widely believed to be a major figure in the upcoming sequels and spinoffs from Batman v Superman, that makes a little bit of sense. Or maybe it’s supposed to be Darkseid, himself? He doesn’t look like the traditional depiction of the guy, but who knows. C’mon, geeks, it’s time to do what you do best: argue!
