Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood Will Perform on American Idol Finale, Make You Ugly-Cry for Days

All the nostalgia feels.

Were you hoping to shed more buckets of tears as we bid farewell to American Idol? Well, hope no longer: Fox has announced that Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood will return to perform on the series finale for one nostalgia-filled night. The show’s first and fourth season winners will send-off the singing competition that started it all on April 7, where they’ll be joined by all the past winners — Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Candice Glover, Caleb Johnson, and Nick Fradiani — as well as dozens of former contestants. The show will also air a 90-minute retrospective on April 5. Idol has been singing its swan song all year with the help of its biggest stars, including most recently Adam Lambert and most memorably Kelly Clarkson, who already reduced the entire country to tears once this season with a performance of “Piece by Piece” last month. If she sings one note of “A Moment Like This,” we’re done for.
