A Local Traffic Reporter Honored Phife Dawg on Live TV in the Rap-Nerdiest Way

By

The late Phife Dawg touched many lives, even the dude on the morning news preparing you for your awful commute, as people in Atlanta learned today. Mark Arum, a traffic reporter for ABC's Atlanta affiliate and apparent A Tribe Called Quest stan, spent the day brilliantly jazzing up the local news by inserting Phife lyrics into a bunch of his traffic reports. (Weirdly, it works.) It's a thing of rap nerd-dom that deserves to go viral if only because he kept it up all morning and he wasn't even the only one. Anchor Fred Blankenship played the Q-Tip to Arum's Phife for parts of it — "You on point, Mark?" is how he tossed it to Arum at one point — in what has to got to be the funkiest send-off Phife Dawg could've asked for.
