Sony Music and Lorne Michaels’s Above Average Made a Multi-Project Development Deal Today, Which, in Layman’s Terms, Means They Made a Promise to Make Many Projects Together

Thank you and Sorry.

Following their collaboration on the Jack Antonoff tour docuseries,Thank You and Sorry, Sony Music and Lorne Michaels’s Above Average (the digital part of Broadway Video) have decided to partner up for a multi-project development deal. The two companies will work together to develop short-form and long-form comedic series around Sony’s artists, such as Adele, John Mayer, and Alicia Keys. “We’re excited to be working with the incredible team at Above Average to create a new slate of programming with Sony Music artists,” said Sony’s head of original content Lee Stimmel. “Our work together on Thank You and Sorry demonstrates the range of possibilities artists have to broaden their connection with their fans in fresh and unexpected ways.” Well we, for one, cannot wait to see John Mayer do comedy. Rumors are, he’s being called “The Next Lucille Ball.” (By us. We just called him that. But it seems right, right?)
