Remember that New York Times video of three regular dudes — Justin Bieber, Diplo, and Skrillex — talking about their process for “Where Are Ü Now?” in which Bieber says that the sounds they used for the song were expensive, not cheap? Remember that? He actually says, “They were expensive sounds,” so self-seriously you can only hope he’s joking a little bit. In a new Funny or Die video, Thao and Merrill Garbus from Tune-Yards have created a parody of that seriously goofy video for Thao & the Get Down Stay Down’s new song “Astonished Man.” Once you watch it, you’ll realize how wrong-right it feels.
