It looks like we’re going to get yet another look into Whitney Houston’s life. Kevin MacDonald, who won an Oscar for his 1999 documentary, One Day in September, has signed on to direct a documentary about the late singer, who died in 2012. The film will be the first to be officially authorized by her estate. It’ll also include “never-before-seen footage” and an interview with record producer Clive Davis, who’s credited with discovering Houston. “The story that is never told about Whitney is just how brilliant she was as an artist,” MacDonald said, which sounds like a humongous overstatement, until you realize his film is running up against a BBC documentary from Nick Broomfield that focuses specifically on her history of addiction.
