The Neon Demon is the name of Nicolas Winding Refn’s new movie, to be released by Amazon Studios, but it’s also a really fitting name for his whole aesthetic. In the trailer, we see Elle Fanning as aspiring model Jesse, who has just moved to Los Angeles to try to make it. But things quickly get sinister and very, very neon, and there is possibly some murdering going on. What is the neon demon, you might ask? The neon demon is in all of us. The neon demon is everything, and nothing. We’re all just trying to survive in this world of neon and avoid dying at the hands of the neon demon.
