PETA Is Super Pumped About the ‘Cruelty-Free’ CGI Animals In the New Jungle Book Movie

It turns out that PETA, an organization mostly famous for disliking things very loudly, also, from time to time, likes things. Weeks before the release of Disney’s live-action Jungle Book remake, the animal-rights organization has given its director John Favreau the Innovation in Film award, for “making the compassionate decision to use stunning cruelty-free CGI technology to bring to life a jungle full of realistic animals.” (The animals were played by stars like Idris Elba, Bill Murray, and Scarlett Johansson, using motion-capture technology.) And all it took was years of work and millions of dollars — the bare necessities!
