Serial’s Asia McClain Is Writing a Book, Titled Confessions of a Serial Alibi

Asia McClain.

And then, there’s the Asia book. Asia McClain, who was Adnan Syed’s lone alibi witness in both the first season of Serial and his newly reopened trial, is writing a memoir. McClain wrote the so-called Asia Letters to Syed back in 1999, swearing that she was with him in a local library at the time that his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee was murdered. But Syed’s lawyer, the late Christina Gutierrez, didn’t call McClain to trial, for reasons that have never quite become clear. Titled Confessions of a Serial Alibi, McClain’s book promises to tell her story “for the very first time.” This isn’t exactly the case, as McClain gave testimony in Syed’s hearing this February and recently appeared on ABC News to discuss that trial. Confessions of a Serial Alibi is out June 7.
