Last night Time hosted its annual Time 100 gala, where 100 very important people and their hangers-on and publicists and stylists gather together to reflect on their collective power. One member of that group was Melissa McCarthy, which is a very good thing because in addition to being an influential person in Hollywood, she’s very good at giving speeches. In his write-up, director Paul Feig praised how McCarthy could be so funny while maintaining the three-dimensionality of her characters. So her toast at the gala was what you’d expect from a Melissa McCarthy speech: funny, charming, and sincere. To the garden gnomes!
