Take a trip to the skies, where everyone takes things literally, there’s a guitar-playing nun for some reason, and the food is poisoned. Wait, that makes things sound bad. Please be advised: This movie is hilarious — which is why one of its gags made our list of the 100 Jokes That Shaped Modern Comedy. Available May 1.
Anthropology: Banana (Complete Season 1) (BBC) and Cucumber (Complete Season 1) (BBC)
Russell T. Davies of Queer As Folk (the original, darker U.K. version) revisits queer culture with this paired offering. Banana is an anthology series, stopping in on various young characters throughout Manchester, while Cucumber follows an older gay man (Vincent Franklin). The names come from the hardness scale for an erection, with Tofu, a web series, filling out (sorry) the trio. Available May 1.
#TBT: Selfie (Complete Season 1)
ABC’s My Fair Lady with social media deserved longer than the one season it got on TV, even though it spent most of that season trying to Houdini out of its overstuffed premise. John Cho is the uptight boss trying to get the social media-obsessed Karen Gillan to confront the real world. Their chemistry is the highlight of the show — well, that and the time Gillan got to sing “Chandelier.” Available May 1.
Minus the virgin? Jane the Virgin (Season 2 Finale) (CW)
It’s almost here: In true telenovela fashion, Jane the Virgin will probably end its second season with a band. Will Jane get married? Will she lose her virginity? Will someone die? (Oh yeah, someone is definitely going to die.) Available May 17.
