Adam McKay Directing Evil-Superhero Tale Irredeemable

In Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we got a wee little glimpse of an evil Superman, but Fox is about to present us with a whole movie on the topic. The company is adapting Irredeemable, a comics series that imagines a world in which a Superman-like figure called the Plutonian decides he’s had it with humanity and starts killing people left and right. Adam McKay, of all people, has been tapped to direct; Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters writer-director Tommy Wirkola is writing the adaptation. The original comic was the brainchild of veteran superhero scribe Mark Waid, and it was really good! That said, it didn’t really create much in the way of a shared universe (there was a spinoff called Incorruptible but that was about it), so it’s unclear if this is Fox’s attempt to build a second superhero universe alongside its existing Deadpool/X-Men franchise.
